I remember when...

When looking for doggie pictures, I came across a folder of old house pictures and it brought back old memories. Since I wasn't a blogger then, here they are!

This was the 2nd house that Chase and I had bought together. It was the biggest project we ever took on to date, but when we got done, it was cute as a button. Then we moved haha. =)

I remember....... thinking it was the nicest house in the whole wide world. I also remember wondering why there were no shrubs!

I remember.......begging Chase to hang 2 shutters and thinking that a carport was the best thing since sliced bread. I remember that I learned what a wax leaf ligustrum is and that it's almost impossible to kill Carpenter ants.

I remember...crying by myself in that empty house after we closed because I was so overwhelmed with all of the work to be done and Chase was working out of town. I remember Chase adding clothes bar after clothes bar to this room because he knew I loved my clothes too much to part with them. I would also like to know where those slip on New Balances on the floor in this picture went!

This is the same room after. I remember bonding with my future mother-in-law while she taught me to stain the hardwoods. I remember bonding with her again over a few Zimas when we were finished.

I remember......that the first panelling I ever painted was in this kitchen!! What I didn't know then was that I would still be painting panelling to this day.

I remember.....thinking this dishwasher HAD to go and sure enough it left the next day via Old Republic Home Warranty people. That was also the day that I learned that "apartment" size dishwashers cost WAY more than the regular sized ones and that made no freakin sense to me.

I remember......having to buy the cheapest cabinet pulls because I only had 20 bucks. I remember thinking that the stove in this house was "really nice". I remember painting these cabinets white and the walls red, but I hated the faux butcher block formica countertops!!!

So I remember.....painting that formica black!!!! I remember Chase was on his way home from work so I splashed primer all over the formica so he couldn't tell me that I couldn't paint it. They HAD to be painted after that. =)

I remember it being a big "splurge" to buy this "fancy" door. =) I also remember the nightmare of dog nose smeers on the 6 bottom panes. Relentless.

I remember.....this being one of the reasons I cried.

I remember....this as another reason.

I remember....no light at the end of the tunnel, but that having shower doors was kinda cool.

I remember....texturing walls for the first time and Chase laying tile for the first time. I remember thinking I needed to match the wall color with the sink vanity and then I realized that wasn't the best idea.

I remember.....when 1 bathroom was all we knew....I remember that I wasn't good at sharing and when I found our current house, I was over the moon because it had THREE bathrooms and I could have one all to myself.

I have many fond memories of that little house and many not so fond memories. I won't ever miss not having enough storage and closet space. I won't ever forget that my biggest argument for buying a bigger house was that " I needed a place to keep my wedding dishes". I learned a million things.....how to refinish hardwoods, how to plant a garden, and how I don't focus very well during a house fire. Chase learned how to lay tile, how to hang ceiling fans, and that he probably would never get much closet space from that point on, for the rest of his life. =)
