The C-Top adventure

Well, let's see. I've been quite the busy bee. Between working on my house, Mer's house, and contracts...I haven't had much time for anything else. But I always have time to blog when I'm working late!!

When my commerical building closed last week, I said I only wanted one thing. Wait, I think I said I wanted a gazillion things, but the one thing I REALLY wanted was new countertops. You see, I have a problem with obsessing over certain things that get under my skin and for the last 4 years, countertops have been my worst nightmare.

Of all the houses that Chase and I have had in the last 5 years........NONE of them had decent countertops.....for instance....

House #1: white speckled formica with chunks missing
House #2: Pepto Bismol pink tile countetops AND backsplash
House #3: Faux wood butcher block formica....I despised this one so much that I painted the formica black
House#4: And surprise faux wood butcher block formica....it's stalking me (I literally believe this)

My step-dad has a contruction business and he agreed to fix me up. He came out and measured and they decided that I needed 2 sheets of whatever I decided to put on. After looking at "solid surface" tops for a while, I asked for a quote.......$800 a sheet. HOLY COW! I guess I better get back to the formica samples....I mean formica is ok as long as it's not white speckledy or butcher block. You see, I want new countertops and all, but $2,000.......I think I'd rather be sportin a new wardrobe or the latest Louis Vuitton.

And then they said, "why don't you go with granite?" Of course I laughed and said, "yeah I'll get right on that". Well, as it turns out, they have a BIG scrap sheet of granite that was supposed to go somewhere, but never did. Also, as it turns out, it happens to be a rockin color that I LOVE.
Finally, as it turns out, the granite is going to be cheaper than all the others!! Guess who is getting granite countertops in a house where granite countertops probably don't belong....ME! Is that like having an old beat up car with $5,000 rims??

So that's my exciting story for the day and I'm super pumped to have me some "c-tops"

And I know you are all wondering the same thing and the answer is: Yes, Chase still thinks I'm crazy. He is probably still at home scratchin his head wondering what's wrong with the ones we got. Lord, bless his heart.
